Dental Implant Brands- Is there a difference between different company Implants?
When you go to a Dentist in Mumbai or anywhere else in the country and ask for a dental implant treatment, you are given choices. Like any other product, even in dental implants there are economic, basic and premium options and you wonder does it really make a difference? Cost of Dental Implant treatment varies from 15000-50000 depending on the make, which is a wide range. You ask for suggestions and people give you all sorts of advice, some say ask only for premium, some say kuch farak nahi padta (it doesn't matter), some even say don't get dental implants done. In the process we forget that all those giving advices have different human bodies, different type of cases and situations, treated by different doctors with different level of expertise, different affordability.
If I have to answer this question, I would say, based on my experience of almost 3000+ Dental Implants and used almost 8+ different companies Dental Implants, that there is definitely a difference, a Straumann Implant (European Make) is superior in its Material, its fitting parts, tissue reaction (bone and soft tissue) as compared to an Osstem Implant (Korean Make), which in turn is superior in its connection, osseointegration to an Adin Implant (Israel Make) or Ifix Implant (Indian Make).
So the next question is should you then opt only for premium Implants? If you can afford it the answer is yes, but if you ask only those work? answer is No. Others also work equally well. Will Implants work is case specific always. So, in my practice if I feel that a particular case demands the use of premium Implants (heavy bite forces, inadequate bone support, systemic factors like diabetes, or other factors like habits) I inform the patients that in your case we either do these Dental Implants or we don't do, like in this case the bone and gum support was not great hence we did Straumann implants but in her daughter in laws case which was pretty straight forward, we did osstem implant and both are working absolutely fine.
So, make sure you make the right choice of the Dental Implants and also of Your Dentist who can give you the right advice. One thing is sure, Dental Implant is the Best option available today for replacement of teeth.
